Quick start

Bancuh DNS works by answering your device’s DNS lookups. When something asks for an ad server, tracker or blocked site, the answer is a dead end and it never loads. Everything else resolves normally.

To use it, you point your device or router at a Bancuh server instead of your internet provider’s DNS. Nothing needs to be installed.

  1. Pick the location closest to you.

    Closer servers answer faster. Your choice here is remembered on every setup page.

    us-dns145.33.24.1292600:3c00::f03c:94ff:fe97:f94f
  2. Pick how you want to set it up.

    Setting it on your router covers every device at home. Setting it on a phone or laptop covers that device everywhere, including on mobile data and other people’s Wi-Fi.

    Device Method Covers Encrypted
    Wi-Fi router WAN DNS setting Every device on your network No
    Android 9+ Private DNS (DoT) That phone, on any network Yes
    iPhone, iPad, Mac Configuration profile (DoH) That device, on any network Yes
    Windows 11 Encrypted DNS setting (DoH) That PC Yes
    Windows 10 Network adapter setting That PC No
    Linux systemd-resolved (DoT) That machine Yes
    Chrome, Firefox, Edge… Secure DNS setting (DoH) That browser only Yes
  3. Follow the guide for your device.

  4. Check that it works.

    Browse for a minute, then open the query logs for your server. If you can see your own lookups, you’re connected. You can also look up a known ad domain such as zedo.com: through Bancuh DNS it returns 0.0.0.0.
