Windows 11

Windows 11 can encrypt DNS lookups with DNS-over-HTTPS out of the box. You set it separately for each network connection, such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet.

You’ll need these values:

FieldIPv4IPv6
Preferred DNS45.33.24.1292600:3c00::f03c:94ff:fe97:f94f
DNS over HTTPS templatehttps://us-dns1.bancuh.com/dns-query
  1. Open Settings › Network & internet, and choose Wi-Fi or Ethernet. For Wi-Fi, open Hardware properties, or the properties of the network you’re connected to.

  2. Next to DNS server assignment, select Edit, and change it from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual.

  3. Turn on IPv4, then:

    • Preferred DNS: the first IPv4 address from the table
    • DNS over HTTPS: On (manual template)
    • DNS over HTTPS template: the first template from the table
    • Fallback to plaintext: Off
    • Repeat for Alternate DNS with the second server
  4. Turn on IPv6 and do the same with the IPv6 addresses and the same templates.

  5. Select Save. Next to your DNS servers, the connection’s properties now show (Encrypted).

  6. Repeat for your other connections if you use more than one, then check that it works.

Set DNS server assignment back to Automatic (DHCP).
